Manage your energy, not your time

As a general rule, our response to greater pressure is to spend more time at work; in the end, this always uses us up physically, mentally, and emotionally. It empties us, in the proper sense of the word, of our energy, which means declining levels of commitment and involvement, a limited capacity for paying attention and focusing, and often mediocre results as the outcome. And to make things worse, this strategy is based on a finite resource: our time.
